Here at the Haven although we do all types of grooming our speciality is handstripping especialy Terriers- none more so than our first love which are Airedale Terriers

Some groomers claim to hand strip, in fact they dont, they tend to use a sharp bladed stripping knife, which tends to cut the hair, this is not handstripping!!!
Handstripping is where the hair is pulled out just a few hairs at a time.
Sounds painfull but it is not if the person doing it knows what they are doing.
only certain dogs have the type of coat that can be pulled, mainly Terriers but a few other breeds.
Done correctly your dog will have a harsh wirey coat and will keep its colour.
we have been doing handstripping nearly 20 years to Championship dog show standard.
Airedales & Welsh terriers are our speciality but we can also make a superb job on all other stripped terriers.
